Jan, from Early Seekers, sent me this awesome note today:

God Morning Friends and Family

Thank you to all those who came this morning to help out at KP. We love and appreciate you so much. We seemed to have plenty of lunches for everyone today… I know many of us have been making extras so that no one goes without. Thank you ! We are very grateful to you all !l. Thank you guys for lugging all our bags of clothing onto the truck for us. And thank you to all who donated the beautiful clothing. Ginny and I go thru them all at church during the week and lable them with sz tags and then we pack them up in our zipper bags, and we take as many of the bags that will fit in our cars and we bring them to KP each week as well..The rest of the bags we leave in our clothing room at pt. The guys on the food truck are so gracious to take them out and lug the rest of them to KP for us, so thanks so much guys.! We love you !

When we first arrived today walking into the park with our stuff a few of the homeless came up to us and said good luck girls… they told us that many people were acting up in the park before we got there . We said a silent prayer, and we didn’t have any huge issues. Thank you Lord, and thank you that you are always there and watching over us and looking out for us and our safety .

Prayer Requests

Homeless needs……… men and ladies, hoodies ,sweatpants, winter jackets, and mens pants (all sizes)

Sharon has many pressures to meet deadlines ,and many responsibilities on her shoulders, also healing of spot on her lung.

Jan ( me ) I need prayer for myself. Today I was a little short with someone who very often gets demanding. I love my friends at kp with all my heart. I really am a huge advocate of the homeless and I am usually very understanding and loving and always standing up for them. anyone who truly knows me, knows that about me. They are truly dear to my heart, but sometimes when some of them get demanding and take advantage of that… It is sometimes” trying” to always respond with a Godly spirit as they are yelling , and today I was not as loving with my words. Although this man knows I love and care about him and he teases me every week because he knows me … but cons me into giving and giving to him, because he is a very close friend of my nephew , and many times gets more than his share…because he thinks I should always favor him. so today he was just getting so demanding and I kind of told him that.I feel bad because I want always to respond nicely and be pleasant and not let my attitude affect anyone wrongly. Please pray that I will always catch myself and respond with a soft and loving answer. I know this man was not offended ( he knows how much I love and care about him) so I am not worried about that,…. but I do want to be always loving and respectful to everyone in all situations. Feeling sad about it all …and need your prayers……. forgetting those things which are behind, and reaching forth unto those things which are before, I press toward the mark for the prize of the high calling of God in Christ Jesus.” – Philippians 3:13-14

Kelly she was in tears , as her boyfriend got arrested this week and is in jail…God knows the situation,…pray for him ,and her needs at this difficult time.

Dina…. very distraught this morning complaining about the 4-5 ladies who stand in the front of the clothing line each and every week and grab so much clothing that she never gets any, we saved some aside for her but she left and when she came back we offered it to her.. . she apologized and said she was just having such an awful morning. He came to our Church Service at the Old PT Church We met him at KP  back then and invited him to PT and he came, You can see by the smile on his face how his love for the Lord shines in him, He shared that Love with us all at PT and everyone was blessed by him. Praying the Lord continues to keep him safe and that many souls get saved as the Holy Spirit continues to use him.
Good Morning Prayer  Partners,
We had another blessed morning at KP this morning, We passed out several bags of clothing and Many lunches drinks ETC. They were all once again so very thankful for all you do. May God bless all of you for all you do to make this happen.
Attention:
We saw a man with Just a long jacket on covering His bottom , He had NO PANTS on, and It was actually Very cold at KP this morning our hands were freezing, so this poor man had to be real cold also. There was one pair of men’s pants and Jan gave them to him. Some had only shorts on. The colder weather is a reminder that they need warmer clothing.
Please: We are in GREAT NEED OF Men’s Jeans, Dockers, Jogging  PANTS, every week the men ask for them and we have to turn them down. sizes 29 to 44. If you have any you no longer need it would be such a blessing to them.

The RI Dream Center Proudly Presents The 8th Annual Hope for the Homeless event In recognition of National Hunger & Homelessness Awareness Week!!

When:        Saturday, November 8th, 2014

Where:       Praise Tabernacle Church, 330 Park Avenue Cranston, RI

Time:          11:00 AM to 2:00 PM

Lunch will be served from Noon to 1:00 PM

But what is it?!?!?  Well, I’m glad you asked!!!  The Hope for the Homeless event is a yearly event we host in order to raise awareness for the homeless and financially poor by treating them to a day of food & fun while connecting them with local service providers that are working to meet their needs.   For the second straight year, Praise Tabernacle Church is allowing us to host the event at their facility.

We’ll have a band, we’ll have lots of good food, and we’ll have lots of service providers on hand in order spend some time with our local homeless community.  The best part about it – all of it’s free for our guests!!!  We’ll send the buses out to the city to pick up whoever wants to come.

If you’d like to find out more details, or if you’d like to donate your time or money to make sure this event is as amazing as possible, feel free to reach out to us on our Facebook page dedicated to the event.  You can also comment on this post and I will personally put you in contact with someone leading the charge on this event…

Thank you to all the supporters of the RI Dream Center Hope for the Homeless Winter Survival Backpack Sponsors!!!!

If that’s not a mouthful, I don’t know what is!!!

Here’s the scoop, for those of you that don’t know what’s up – every year we hand out 300 free backpacks to the homeless filled with winter survival supplies.  Yeah, it’s expensive, and yeah, it’s a lot of work….but it is soooooooo worth it!!!

To get it done, we rely on friends and family of the RI Dream Center for support.  One of the main fundraisers is the Walkathon.  Another way we raise support is simply by asking for supplies, and year after year I am totally amazed by the outstanding efforts of ordinary, everyday citizens of our community that help provide supplies for our backpacks.

Ok, so let’s set the table – here’s what we hand out:

Backpack
Socks
Hat
Gloves
Scarf
Fleece Blanket
Shampoo
Deodorant
Lotion
Toothpaste
Toothbrush
Soap
Conditioner
Razor
Shave Cream
Combs
Nail clippers
Bible
Kleenex
Lip balm

Other helpful items are hand sanitizer, alcohol free mouthwash, toilet paper and feminine hygiene products.

As you can see, it’s a lot – just multiply that list by 300!!!!

We have already started receiving some donations, but if you would like to help us out by donating any of the above necessities it would be great!  If you would like to donate anything, leave a comment below and we will figure out the best way to connect!

So, here are the dates I promised:

HFH Walkathon – October 11th at the PT Church Parking Lot at 8:30 am

Filling of the Backpacks – November 11th at PT Church at 6:00 pm until…..whenever we’re done!

Backpack Hand Outs – November 15th  State House Lawn at 7:00 am

If you would like to help out with ANYTHING you have read about in this post, please let me know and we will put you in contact with someone running each of these events!

Thanks so much for taking the time to read this blog!!!
